The Rescued! 3-legged mouse among 80 pets flown to Fort Worth ahead of Hurricane Laura
It’s unclear how fast Pipsqueak, the three-legged mouse, can run, but he didn’t have to worry about that Tuesday.
The mouse and 79 of his closest animal friends, including 56 cats, 20 dogs, and three rabbits, were flown out of harm’s way in the Houston area with Hurricane Laura aimed at the Texas Gulf Coast. The 80 animals from the Houston SPCA were picked up from the Galveston Island Humane Society and flown to Meacham Airport in Fort Worth.
The Humane Society of North Texas expects to put most of the pets up for adoption as soon as possible. About 70 more dogs were expected to arrive from the Houston and Beaumont areas on Wednesday.
Pipsqueak was rescued from a cruelty case in Houston, according to HSNT. The HSNT partnered with Wings of Rescue and GreaterGood.org to fly the animals from the coast.
