Large hail, damaging winds and lots of rain in weather forecast for Fort Worth area

For those North Texans who haven’t watered their lawns this week, don’t worry.

The forecast includes showers and thunderstorms with some locally heavy rainfall for the next several days in North Texas.

There is a risk of severe storms late Wednesday into Friday, and then lots of rain on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Before all that, Wednesday should be cloudy in the morning and mostly sunny in the afternoon. The daytime high should reach 85.

The chance of severe storms, which could include damaging winds and large hail, is in the forecast for late Wednesday and early Thursday in many North Texas counties.

Storms from West Texas are expected to form into a line and move into the western counties of North Texas after 7 p.m. The storms are expected to weaken as they approach the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area and I-35 overnight.

“The risk of severe storms for Tarrant County is low,” said Matt Stalley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, on Wednesday. “We are looking at two inches of rain and more in the five-day outlook.”
