It hit 80 degrees on Sunday. Now get ready for a possible mix of rain, sleet and snow.

From heat to sleet, get ready for an experience of weather extremes.

Temperatures that reached 80 degrees on Sunday in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area will be followed at midweek with cold rain that will perhaps mix with ice and snow, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature will remain mild on Monday, likely in the 70s, before a strong cold front arrives late in the day on Tuesday, said Daniel Huckaby, a meteorologist at the weather service office in Fort Worth.

On Wednesday, wind gusts could make the temperature feel as though it were in the teens or 20s.

Rain chances begin before the front arrives, and rain will linger Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Any accumulating snow likely will remain to the north and west of Fort Worth, but there may be a burst of sleet or snow in Tarrant County on Wednesday, according to the weather service. Bridges may become icy, and snow could collect on grass, Huckaby said.
