Here comes more rain, chilly temperatures for North Texas neighborhoods
Rain and chilly temperatures are on the agenda for North Texans for the next few days, but no severe weather is expected, according to the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.
The afternoon commute was expected to be dry for the Fort Worth-Dallas area Tuesday, but it would start to get wet by late Tuesday.
Forecasters say there’s an 80 percent chance of moisture late Tuesday night, which will stay at 80 percent on Wednesday. Rainfall totals are expected to be between a half inch to an inch.
There is a chance for a light wintry mix near and northeast of line from Bonham to Sulphur Springs late Tuesday and into early Wednesday, but forecasters predict no significant impacts to travel.
Temperatures should be in the low 40s on Wednesday morning.
“We could see steady rain on Wednesday,” said meteorologist Ted Ryan at the NWS office in Fort Worth on Tuesday. “There could be some isolated thunderstorms, but no severe weather.”
Rain chances will continue to hang around on Thursday morning, but sunny skies are in the forecast for Friday.
Daytime temperatures on Wednesday will be in the upper 40s and in the mid-50s on Thursday.
North Texans will wake up to temperatures in the upper 30s on Friday.
Rainfall totals this week will be far less than the ones last week that caused flooding when storms dumped heavy rains in many areas of North Texas including Love Field in Dallas, which saw almost 4 inches of rain.
And forecasters said there won’t be severe storms this week like the ones that pounded North Texas on Jan. 10, when five tornadoes were confirmed. An EF-1 tornado touched down near Joshua and four EF-0s were near Irving, near Boyd, and in Delta County.
