3 dead, at least 3 injured in multi-vehicle crash on I-35W in Denton County

Three women were killed Friday night in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 35W in Denton County, officials said.

Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 responded to a major collision involving several vehicles on I-35W northbound around 6:45 p.m., the agency posted on X.

Argyle Police Chief Emmitt Jackson told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV that four people were transported to Medical City Denton and two to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

Three of the victims died at Medical City Denton shortly after the crash, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website. They were identified as Odilia Orozco Gonzalez de Alvarez, 69, Elia Orozco, 65, and Gladis Orozco Gonzalez De Cifuentes, 63.

The northbound lanes of I-35W were closed to traffic for about five hours at Crawford Road and reopened around midnight.

More information about what caused the crash was not immediately available.
