Parts of Interstate 30 eastbound near Fort Worth were closed Thursday morning due to an accident that killed a pedestrian, officials said.

The crash occurred near the Brentwood Stair Road exit.

A spokesperson for MedStar confirmed that a man was killed.

Officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of East Freeway shortly before 6:30 a.m. regarding the accident, police said.

The pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle and was lying in the inside eastbound lane, police said.

Another vehicle hit the pedestrian and its driver stopped to call police. No other vehicle stopped before the 911 caller, officials said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 44-year-old Demarco Antonie Sanders.

Part of the interstate was closed to traffic for several hours. Lanes reopened about 9:15 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
