U.S. Highway 75 near Plano was closed Wednesday morning due to a crash that resulted in a tractor-trailer fire, officials said.

The main northbound lanes of U.S. 75 at Parker Road were closed throughout the morning and reopened in the afternoon, according to the Plano Police Department. During the morning rush hours, traffic was exiting at Parker Road.

Injuries have been reported but the extent of injuries was unknown, police said in a Wednesday morning release, and the cause of the crash was being investigated.

WFAA-TV reported that two people were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Police told WFAA that the driver of the tanker truck lost control and the truck caught fire after sliding on the roadway. Three other vehicles were hit by the truck in the crash about 5:30 a.m.

The highway was closed for several hours while firefighters let fuel from the truck burn itself out.

Anyone who saw the crash happen was asked to return to Plano and give a written witness statement. Questions can be directed to the Plano Police Department at 972-424-5678.
