A ground stop was issued at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Friday morning due to a fire at one of the fuel pumps, airport officials said.

Officials said shortly before 11 a.m. on Twitter that the fire had been put out and the affected pump turned off, but they would conduct a safety inspection before returning to regular operations.

In an update at 12:42, the airport said, “The airlines’ fuel contractor has restored operations at their facility, and they are in the process of sending fuel to aircraft. It will take some time to get fueling operations back to normal.”

The airport officials recommend that passengers planning to travel in or out of DFW continue to check with their airlines for updated flight status.

Flight delays are averaging about an hour, according to flightaware.com
