TexRail, TRE passengers should expect heat-related delays, Trinity Metro says
Passengers on the Trinity Railway Express and TEXRail today expect heat-related delays from 2 to 6 p.m., according to Trinity Metro.
The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures up to 110 degrees and it is likely Trinity Metro rail services will be under a heat-related speed restriction and will be limited to 40 mph. Steel rails can be much hotter than the air temperature, and are at risk of buckling in extreme heat. Trains will reduce their speed to put less force on the tracks.
Similar conditions are predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday.
