The Texas Department of Transportation is closing part of State Highway 114 in northern Tarrant County Thursday and Friday.

Westbound Texas 114 at Texas 170 will be completely closed from 8 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from TxDOT.

Drivers heading eastbound will be directed through a marked detour.

Eastbound Texas 114 will be reduced to one lane in that same area, weather permitting, according to the news release.

TxDOT is asking drivers to find alternative routes if possible, pointing to the dangers traffic can pose to road workers and travelers. In 2020, 186 road workers and road users were killed in work zones, with speeding and driver inattention being the leading causes, according to the department.
