After threatening to “purge” Pokemon Go players, a South Texas man landed in jail over the weekend, police say.

Harlingen police and a team of other law enforcement officials arrested Nathan Garcia Cerda, 29, after he allegedly made threats on social media that he and his friends would use “modified” paintball guns to target Pokemon Go players attending events in the area. The threat warned people to “not to be walking around,” according to a police statement.

Officers took the Palmview man into custody Saturday. Poke Fest 2016 was scheduled Sunday at the McAllen Convention Center.

He’s charged with making a terroristic threat.

Cerda is also a sex offender listed at moderate risk, according to Department of Public Safety’s online registry. He was convicted of sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
