Burleson, Flower Mound, Seabrook college students killed in crash
A car accident early Monday in Nacogdoches killed three and seriously injured current and former Stephen F. Austin State University students.
Chase Scruggs, 20, of Seabrook was driving a 2007 Dodge Charger, which went off the road, struck several trees and then caught fire at about 1:24 a.m. in the 2400 block of East Star Avenue, according to a Nacogdoches Police Department news release.
Rajeen “Ray” Williams, 21 of Burleson, Geena Zarick, 18 of Flower Mound and Scruggs were pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Dan Taravella, Nacogdoches police spokesman.
Trent Haynes, 21, of Red Oak was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Health in serious condition, Taravella said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, Taravella said.
