Two killed in head-on crash south of Weatherford identified

Two people killed Monday afternoon in a head-on collision on Texas 171, about a mile south of Weatherford, have been identified, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said in a statement.

Both occupants of a 2013 Toyota Rav4 were pronounced dead at the scene about 12:10 p.m. The Toyota’s driver was identified as Richard Earl Castleschouldt, 26, of Weatherford and the passenger was Christopher Allen Thompson, 27, of Mineral Wells, authorities said.

The truck driver was not injured.

The Rav4 was traveling north on Texas 171 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2015 Mack truck.

DPS Trooper Richard Hunter said the Rav4 had been going south on Texas 171, and passed the Mack truck, before making a U-turn and heading back north.
