Burleson teen detained, released after brother’s stabbing death
A 16-year-old who had been detained in the stabbing death of his older brother this week was released from jail Friday afternoon.
A Johnson County juvenile court judge ordered the teen’s release after a detention hearing. The teen’s name is not being disclosed because he’s a juvenile.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the death of the teen’s older brother, Christian Sealey.
Sealey, 19, died of a stab wound to the chest at 12:15 a.m. Thursday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
Sealey had been taken by his mother to Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South from their home in the 3400 block of Country Vista Drive, just northeast of Burleson.
Johnson County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home late Wednesday night on a domestic disturbance complaint, Sheriff Bob Alford said.
“The deceased and his mother got into a verbal and physical altercation,” Alford said Friday morning. “Two younger brothers came to the aid of the mother. We’re still looking close at it.”
When the deputies arrived, they noticed “it was obviously a physical altercation, and there was blood,” Alford said.
The Sheriff’s Department has not determined whether it plans to seek charges against the brother, Alford said.
The Johnson County attorney’s office, which handles juvenile cases, would not comment on the teen’s status, other than to say that he was released.
