Elderly woman dies in Parker County mobile home fire

A 75-year-old woman died in a mobile home fire Tuesday morning in rural Parker County.

Firefighters arrived at 6:17 a.m. to a “fully involved” blaze at a double-wide mobile home at 7215 Cheyenne Trail, about 15 miles south of Weatherford, county spokesman Joel Kertok said. County dispatch received a call about the fire at 6:09 a.m.

Two county units and a Weatherford unit worked more than an hour to put out the fire, which was caused by cigarettes, investigators determined.

The fire started near the center of the home, Kertok said.

The victim’s name was unavailable Monday. Her husband of 33 years was not in the home at the time of the fire, Kertok said.
