Flood Watch in effect for Rio Grande near Laredo, Colombia Bridge

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Rio Grande at Laredo as rising water from heavy rainfall upstream is expected to increase river levels later this week.

The watch, issued Tuesday morning, includes areas along the Rio Grande near the city of Laredo and the Colombia Solidarity International Bridge.

According to the National Weather Service, flooding is possible beginning Thursday afternoon.

The Rio Grande was measured at 1.8 feet Tuesday and is forecast to rise above flood stage, which is 8 feet.

The Flood Watch is in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday through 7 p.m. Friday.
