Schertz police launch death investigation after body found off busy Interstate 35 corridor

A death investigation is underway in Schertz after officers responding to a report of a deceased person found a man dead near the southbound Interstate 35 frontage road Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Schertz Police Department, officers were dispatched around 2 p.m. June 23 to the 25300 block of the southbound Interstate 35 service road after receiving a report of a deceased person.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying in a grassy area near the roadway.

Police said the victim has not yet been identified but appears to be a middle-aged White or Hispanic man.

Investigators are working to confirm the man's identity, notify his next of kin and determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities said there is no indication of a threat to the public at this time.
