RGISC seeks visual storytellers for school forestry project

Nonprofit Río Grande International Study Center is looking for a creative eye to help tell the story behind one of its newest environmental initiatives, Adelante con Árboles.

The organization recently issued a call for visual documentarians to help capture the impact of the project, which focuses on bringing native trees to local school campuses.

Adelante con Árboles is a school-based forestry initiative launched in 2024 through a partnership between RGISC, the Texas A&M Forest Service and the Laredo Independent School District.

According to RGISC, the project aims to expand the city's tree canopy, create greener learning environments and promote environmental awareness and stewardship among students.

"Adelante con Árboles is helping create schoolyard forests and expand urban tree canopy in Laredo," the organization said.

RGISC is seeking documentarians, filmmakers, production teams and visual storytellers with experience in community, environmental or nonprofit storytelling.

Applications are available at rgisc.org.

The deadline to apply is June 27 at 5 p.m.
