WCSO: Man arrested in stolen truck case tied to transporting undocumented immigrants
A man was arrested in connection with a stolen commercial truck that was used to transport undocumented immigrants to San Antonio, according to the Webb County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded May 25 to the 400 block of El Pico Road after receiving reports of unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal mischief.
After the initial report, the case was forwarded to the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.
Investigators determined that a stolen 2022 International truck tractor was used on two separate occasions to transport undocumented immigrants to San Antonio, the Sheriff's Office said.
The suspect was identified as 44-year-old Hilario C. Ruelas of San Antonio, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The case was presented to the Webb County District Attorney's Office, which reviewed and approved warrants charging Ruelas with three counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle and one count of criminal mischief.
Ruelas was taken into custody June 8 in San Antonio and transported to Webb County Jail on June 11.
Jail records show Ruelas was booked on the four warrants carrying bonds totaling $100,000. He remained in custody as of Friday afternoon.
