Joyin recalls 254,000 Sloosh dive sticks over impalement risk

Parents and caregivers who purchased a pool toy set may want to check their gear. Joyin is recalling about 254,000 Sloosh dive sticks after federal safety officials said the toys violate a federal safety standard, creating a risk of serious impalement injuries to children.

Why was the recall initiated?

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Thursday, June 11, saying the dive sticks violate the federal dive sticks ban because they exceeded the compress limit, posing an impalement hazard.

According to the CPSC, the dive sticks pose a risk of severe injury to children in shallow water, where a child could fall or land on one of the sticks and suffer serious piercing injuries. Children might injure their faces and eyes when they try to pull sticks out from under the water. To date, no injuries or incidents have been reported.

The recall (No. 26-536) involves Sloosh Dive Sticks contained in packages of Sloosh water toys, model 40041. The CPSC said model number 40041 is printed on the back of the box next to the barcode and on one end of the dive stick, along with Joyin's name and tracking information.

Made of hard plastic and shaped like cylinders, the recalled dive sticks are included in a 30-piece Sloosh water toys package that contains five dive sticks.

Available in multiple colors, the dive sticks measure about 7 inches long and nearly 1 inch or less in diameter. They are packaged with other pool diving toys in the Sloosh water toys set.

The recall applies to dive sticks included in Sloosh water toys with model number 40041 that were sold before Oct. 23, 2025. Customers can continue using the other items included in the package.

Where were the recalled toys sold?

Pool toys included in the recall were sold nationwide online at Amazon.com, Temu.com, Wayfair.com, Plus.Target.com and SHEIN.com from February 2019 through October 2025 for between $17 and $22. Affected pool toys were imported by Joyin US Corp., of Chandler, Arizona, and manufactured in China.

What should consumers do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dive sticks and throw away, according to the CPSC.

The company is offering affected customers replacement dive sticks. The CPSC said customers should take a picture of the dive sticks in the trash and email it to Joyin at support@joyin.com. After receiving proof of disposal, the company will send redesigned dive sticks that comply with federal regulations.
