Midland prayer gathering planned at Centennial Park after mass shooting

The Midland community is invited to gather for prayer at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Centennial Park, 200 W. Wall St.

The event follows the mass shooting on June 12.

Mayor Lori Blong posted this statement on Facebook:

"Our city has been through a lot today. I believe the answer to all of it starts on our knees. I am praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 over Midland tonight. That we will seek God's face and trust Him to heal our land. I am praying for our council, our neighbors, and especially those who are grieving."

The New Living Translation of 2 Chronicles 7:14 reads:

"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
