How Midland can help families after the shooting

As Midland begins to process the shock of Friday morning's shooting, the community is already mobilizing to help-donating blood, organizing meals and raising money for victims and their families.

Mayor Lori Blong said that food and supply donations are being funneled through The United Way. While blood donations aren't an immediate need, a blood drive will be set up at Midland Memorial Hospital.

A family reunification center is currently open at Midland Memorial Hospital, with PermiaCare mental health professionals onsite. Families looking for more information on loved ones can go to the chapel.

The West Texas Food Bank has two disaster vehicles en route to care for law enforcement on scene, in partnership with H-E-B. A cooker will be onsite providing hot meals and breakfast will be available for those working on scene.

Blood Drive

A blood drive has been set up in the Midland Memorial Hospital main entrance on Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in an effort to replenish the supply available.

United Way of Midland

The United Way of Midland is taking monetary donations. The Midland Disaster Relief Fund has been set up at Frost Bank, please call 800-513-7678.

Permian Basin Area Foundation

The Permian Basin Area Foundation is taking monetary donations. Donations can be made online at pbaf.org/donate. When donating, be sure to click the emergency fund, which is where the money will be collected. Checks are also accepted.

West Texas Food Bank

The West Texas Food Bank will take food, snack and water donations at the Midland campus,1601 Westcliff Drive.
