City of Midland issues statement about the loss of a city employee

The following is a statement from the City of Midland about the loss of their colleague Ed Scott in today's shootings.

"Today is one of the hardest days our organization and our community will ever face.

We lost one of our own.

While many details will be discussed in the days ahead, we want to pause and recognize what matters most right now. A member of the City of Midland family will not be coming home.

Behind every employee badge is a husband or wife, a mother or father, a son or daughter, a friend, a teammate, and a person whose life touched countless others. Today, a family is experiencing a loss that words cannot adequately describe, and our hearts are with them.

Midland, please recognize this is not easy for the family of City of Midland employee Ed Scott. Please respect the family's wishes for privacy. Please say a prayer for what the family is going through less than 24 hours after the unthinkable.

Ed was a person involved in the community, specifically working as an integral figure with local and regional softball organizations. Most importantly, he was a loving father and husband and good person all the way around.

Thank you for letting the family have their time to grieve, and the city's prayers go out to all families impacted because of the senseless events from June 12, 2026."
