Local churches hosting Vacation Bible School
Many churches are offering Vacation Bible School during the summer months while children are out of school. For the convenience of our readers, we've gathered information about many of the upcoming Vacation Bible Schools in the area and presented them here. The events are listed in calendar order.
Vacation Bible Schools
Harmony Missionary Baptist Church invites children of all ages to its VBS from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12. The theme is "Foundations of Faith," based on 1 Corinthians 3:11. The church, located at 250 CR 2303 S. in Rusk, encouraged kids to "Bring your heart and your bible; let's grow together in faith."
First Baptist Church Rusk is conducting its VBS from 6 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Sunday, June 14 and ending Wednesday, June 17. The theme is "Emerald Crossing: An Irish Adventure through Psalm 23." The event is open to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. The church is located at 372 E. 4th St. in Rusk. To pre-register, visit ruskfbcvbs.myanswers.com/26.
Cornerstone Baptist Church is hosting its VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 15 through Wednesday, June 17. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to attend the "Surprise Party VBS: The Unexpected Grace of Jesus" at 1720 S. Bolton in Jacksonville. Dinner will be provided to all participating children. The church asks parents to be certain to check their children in and out each night they attend. First Baptist Church Jacksonville invites the public to its Faith & Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20. The event features bounce houses, games, food and fellowship. The church is located at 210 Philip St. in Jacksonville.
Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church is hosting its Vacation Bible School, "Rainforest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God," from Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26. For details, contact the church at 903-586-4538, or secretary@oloschurch.com.
Life Recovery Church is conducting its VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26. The theme is "Surprise Party VBS: The Unexpected Grace of God." Children, ages three through fifth grade, are invited to share in praise and worship, exciting lessons, fun games, crafts, snacks and more. The church is located at 1153 E. Loop 456 in Jacksonville.
Weches Baptist Church invites pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students to its VBS from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26. The church is located on Hwy 21 West, 12 miles from Alto. The church phone number is 936-687-9716.
Calvary Baptist Church is hosting a one day VBS from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 27. Registration begins at 9:40 a.m. the day of the event. The theme is "Wonderfully Made – Exploring God's Masterpiece." Snacks and lunch are provided. The church is located at 122 Tena St. in Jacksonville.
East Side Missionary Baptist is conducting its VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28 through Tuesday, June 30. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to explore, "Wonder: I was created by God and for God." The church is located at 1100 Loop 456 in Jacksonville.
Peoples Church invites students in kindergarten through fifth grade to its One Day Kids Camp from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 25. The camp theme is "Emerald Crossing: An Irish Adventure through Psalm 23." The event features bible lessons, exciting games, creative crafts, music, snacks and opportunities to grow in their understanding of God's Word.
