Stormy the crying kitten has been 'spicy' since her rescue from a storm drain
May 1-A crying kitten was rescued from a storm drain in Seguin, according to Seguin Animal Care Services.
The rescue happened around 3:45 p.m. Thursday after the department received a call about a kitten crying in a storm drain. Animal control officers who arrived at the location then contacted the Seguin Public Works Department for help.
Public works staff had to take a ladder down the manhole to locate the kitten. Once inside, they found a single kitten and rescued it from the drain.
"We are thankful for the amazing teamwork across departments of the city that led to the safe rescue of this kitten," Seguin Animal Care Service said in a Facebook post.
Shelley Lutz, manager of the Seguin Animal Shelter, confirmed that the kitten was uninjured but has been "spicy" since it arrived at the shelter.
It had yet to be evaluated for its gender, but it is estimated to be eight to 10 weeks old, Lutz said.
The kitten has been named "Stormy" after its storm drain origin story, Lutz said.
It could be several weeks before Stormy is placed up for adoption.
