Bryan man arrested for allegedly assaulting College Station police officer
College Station police officers responding to a criminal trespass complaint at a local entertainment establishment arrested a Bryan man who allegedly assaulted one of the officers.
According to a police report, the manager of the business called police when a man who had been told to leave the establishment several times refused to go. Officers arrived and the manager pointed out Eugene Rodger Carney, 60, and officers approached him and escorted him outside and explained that he was being given a warning for criminal trespass. One of the officers also noted that he appeared to be drunk.
Carney allegedly told the officers he didn't feel the manager had a right to kick him out and went to go back in to speak with the manager. When officers moved to stop him, he shoved one aside and another took him to the ground. As they struggled, Carney allegedly hit the officer several times in the head. The other officer used a taser to incapacitate Carney. He continued to struggle as he was placed in handcuffs.
Carney was taken to the Brazos County Jail where he was charged with assault of a public servant and other charges. He is being held under $24,300 in bonds.
