College Station ranks 25th in Livability's top 100 places to live in the U.S.
College Station ranked the 25th-best place to live in the 2026 Livability rankings, placing it among the top small- to mid-sized cities recognized for affordability, quality of life and economic opportunity.
The annual list, compiled by Livability and Applied Geographic Solutions, evaluates more than 2,000 U.S. cities using over 100 data points across eight categories, including economy, housing, amenities, transportation and public safety. This year's rankings emphasized the city's housing affordability and cost of living during rising economic pressures nationwide.
Livability highlighted College Station's balance of opportunity and lifestyle, with short commute times, a stable economy and access to amenities. As home to Texas A&M University, the city benefits from a strong education district with a steady flow of graduates entering the workforce.
The report also points to College Station's extensive park system, public transportation options and proximity to major areas like Houston, Dallas and San Antonio as appealing factors. With 58 parks spanning more than 1,900 acres, along with cultural, recreational and community amenities, the city offers a range of options for residents.
Livability's Top 100 is not a traditional ranked list but a data-driven collection of cities that meet criteria for affordability and population size, focusing on places where residents can achieve a high quality of life without the high costs seen in larger metros.
