Powerball player just misses $421 million jackpot — but wins big in Texas

A Powerball ticket sold in Texas won $100,000, just missing the $421 million jackpot, lottery officials say.

The ticket matched four winning numbers, the Powerball and the Power Play multiplier in the drawing Monday, Nov. 3, the Texas Lottery said.

The lucky ticket was sold at a Circle K store in Conroe, which is about a 40-mile drive north from Houston, lottery officials told McClatchy News in an email.

The winning numbers were 3, 32, 40, 43 and 57 with a Powerball of 18. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

Powerball jackpot rises

Nobody won the jackpot, which rises to an estimated $438 million, with a cash value of about $207 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Nov. 5, the national Powerball site said.

More than 460,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.

The Powerball jackpot was last won Sept. 6, when players in Missouri and Texas split the $1.787 billion grand prize.

What to know about Powerball

To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
