A Texas shelter celebrated the birthday of a playful pup who has been waiting patiently for over a year for someone to notice him.

Meet Cash, an energetic dog with a deep love of toys and gallivanting around in water, his profile says. Despite his loving nature, he hasn’t found his person in this world yet.

“Help us celebrate a very special boy’s birthday, Cash!” the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Corpus Christi said in a Sept. 22 Facebook post.

“Since May 2024, Cash has been waiting patiently for his forever family. That’s far too many days of watching other dogs find homes while his perfect match hasn’t walked through the door yet.”

Seems like Cash was built for the party life since he’s brimming with personality and charm.

“Now at 4 years old, Cash is the embodiment of curiosity and goofiness — the kind of dog who can turn an ordinary Monday into a delightful adventure,” the shelter said.

“Whether it’s a game of fetch, a splash in the pool, or proudly parading his favorite toy, Cash’s playful spirit is infectious. His sweet, funny antics are guaranteed to leave you laughing until your cheeks hurt.”

Cash’s only birthday wish (other than lots of treats and a cozy lap to curl up in) is for a dog-free home, the shelter notes. He prefers the spotlight on him.

“This boy has been overlooked for far too long, and it breaks our hearts. He deserves to spend his next birthday in a home, surrounded by love, laughter, and his very own family,” the shelter said.

Folks took to the comment section of the post and wished the doe-eyed gentleman a very happy birthday.

“Happy birthday Sweet boy!! Went to the shelter and saw him a few months ago! Sweetest boy ever!! Someone please get this sweet boy a home!!” one person said.

“Wishing a very happy birthday to Cash!” another expressed.

“Happy birthday my sweet boy. I hope you find your new home soon,” someone commented.

Corpus Christi is about a 140-mile drive southeast from San Antonio.
