Video shows adorable flamingo learning to walk at Texas zoo. ‘Too much leggies!’
When you’re a flamingo, learning to walk can be a challenge.
With their long, wobbly legs and webbed feet, flamingoes can have difficulty mastering the skill because they’re top-heavy and unsteady.
Take the newest addition to the San Antonio Zoo, for example.
Shown in an Aug. 19 post on the zoo’s social media channels, the flamingo took a tumble while adjusting to its new terrain.
“When it is, in fact, your first rodeo,” one commenter said.
“Mama! I’ve got too much leggies,” another commenter said.
The video then shows the flamingo frolic and hop, before doing a 1-legged yoga-like maneuver.
The flamingo is also seen splashing in water, clearly enjoying its new habitat.
“Love the flamingo water class,” someone commented on Instagram.
“Even baby flamingos get the zoomies,” another said on Facebook.
The zoo first posted about its newest addition in early August as it was being cared for by one of the adult birds in the enclosure.
Since then, the baby bird has received a warm welcome from zoo enthusiasts. The zoo’s “cuteness compilation” of the flamingo has more than 40 million views on Facebook as of Aug. 25.
“Just like human babies, flamingo chicks hatch needing lots of care and attention from their parents—staying close for warmth, safety, and plenty of food,” the zoo said Aug. 22. “While human newborns drink milk, these fluffy gray chicks are fed a special ‘crop milk’ made by both mom and dad! Native to warm, watery habitats, flamingos grow from wobbly-legged fluff balls into graceful pink beauties in just a few months.”
