Powerball player wins $100,000 prize in Texas. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player in Texas won $100,000, just missing the $479 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers, the Powerball and the Power Play multiplier in the drawing Saturday, Aug. 9, the Texas Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was sold at an H-E-B Food Store in Leander, which is about a 25-mile drive north from Austin, lottery officials said in an email to McClatchy News.
Two other Texas players won $50,000 prizes. Those tickets were sold at a Kroger in Tomball, which is about a 35-mile drive northwest from Houston, and at a Walmart in Amarillo, lottery officials said.
A ticket sold in Illinois won a $1 million prize.
The winning numbers were 7, 14, 23, 24 and 60 with a Powerball of 14. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
Powerball jackpot rises
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $501 million, with a cash value of about $229.5 million, for the next drawing Monday, Aug. 11, the national Powerball site said.
More than 840,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
