A former driving school instructor accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl is now prison-bound, Texas court records show.

The teenage victim told Houston police officers she was sexually assaulted during and after an Oct. 2, 2023, driving lesson by Ronald Avery Eglin, according to previous McClatchy News reporting.

She said Eglin, 63, assaulted her in the car and again in the driving school building as she waited for her mother, KHOU reported, citing court documents.

At the time of Eglin’s arrest, Houston police officers encouraged others with information about Eglin to come forward.

Originally charged with a single sexual assault charge, Eglin faced additional charges months later when other victims contacted police, according to KPRC.

“He would use his position as a driving school instructor to kind of befriend those victims, put them at ease,” Houston Police Detective Curtis King told KPRC in January 2024.

Court documents obtained by KPRC revealed Eglin was accused of engaging in explicit activity with a 16-year-old in a video call, authorities said. He also sexually assaulted a separate 17-year-old three times and sexually assaulted another victim as well, the news outlet reported citing court documents.

Eglin also formerly worked at Madison High School in Houston, KTRK reported.

The alleged assaults involving Eglin were believed to have happened over several years, King told KTRK.

Originally reported by KHOU, court records show Eglin pleaded guilty June 23 to four of the six charges he faced.

Eglin was sentenced to three years in prison, according to the court records.
