Armed relatives interrogate apartment complex after 2-year-old killed, TX cops say

Relatives of a 2-year-old fatally hit by a vehicle at an apartment complex grabbed weapons and began searching for the person responsible, Texas police told news outlets.

The toddler was struck on Houston’s west side on Wednesday, May 21, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police responded to the complex after receiving calls about two or three men roaming the area with guns, KPRC reported.

The armed men were confronting people, police told KTRK.

Shortly after arriving, police learned a woman had taken her daughter to a hospital after finding the girl had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot, the station reported. The girl died at the hospital, according to police.

Police identified the men as relatives of the toddler, and they were trying to figure out who fatally hit her, KHOU reported. Officers detained the men.

It’s not known who the driver is, but police are investigating, the station reported. Police did not say whether the detained men would face charges, according to KPRC.
