A 24-year-old bull rider died after an incident at a youth fair in Texas.

Dylan Grant, of Wyoming, was participating in the Wharton County Youth Fair Xtreme Bulls event on April 3, according to a news release from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

Grant was “bucked off” a bull in the arena during the second round, the PRCA said.

He was then trampled by the bull named Commander, according to KHOU.

Grant was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Houston, where he died from his injuries, according to the PRCA.

“There are no worthy words of sympathy at a time of such profound shock and sadness,” one woman wrote on Facebook.

Grant got his PRCA permit in May 2018 and competed in numerous PRORODEO and Xtreme Bulls events, the association said.

“Our sincere condolences to Dylan’s family. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers,” a Facebook post from the Wharton County Youth Fair said.

In 2021, he won the Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo bull riding title while competing for the University of Wyoming rodeo team, according to the PRCA.
