Powerball player just misses $462 million jackpot — but still wins big in Texas
A Powerball ticket sold in Texas won $50,000 but just missed the $462 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Monday, March 24, the Texas Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was sold at a Timewise Food Store in Houston, lottery officials said in a statement to McClatchy News.
Tickets sold in Florida and New Jersey won $1 million each.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $484 million, with a cash value of about $228.1 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, March 26, the site said.
The winning numbers were 6, 23, 35, 36 and 47, with a Powerball of 12, the lottery said. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
More than 515,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won Jan. 18, when an Oregon player hit the $329 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
