Man shot in drive-by makes it to store for help, then he is shot again, Texas cops say
The victim of a drive-by shooting in Texas made it into a store to ask for help, then was shot again by a customer inside, according to local news outlets.
The man was riding a scooter down the street at about 8:20 p.m. March 10 when a white or silver Dodge Charger pulled up and someone inside shot him, KPRC reported.
The vehicle took off, police said, and the wounded victim ran inside the nearby liquor store for help. Once inside, one of the customers responded by shooting the victim a second time and then running away, according to KHOU.
Police said the victim is in his late 20s or early 30s, KHOU reported.
In a news conference recorded by Grizzy’s Hood News at the scene, Houston Police Lt. JP Horelica said the shootings were “unrelated.”
“I’m not sure what the people in the store thought, if they were scared, startled or what,” Horelica said.
Horelica said police looked at video surveillance that showed both shootings. He said the shooter inside the store used an AR-15 pistol.
KHOU reported that someone took the scooter after the shooting.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, according to KPRC.
Police are still seeking information about both shooters.
