Deputy accused of sexually assaulting 15-year-old boy, Texas cops say. He’s charged
A Texas sheriff’s deputy is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy while employed as a law enforcement officer, authorities said.
Landon Slatter, 42, of Conroe, was arrested March 4 on charges of sexual assault of a child and online sexual solicitation of a minor, according to Montgomery County jail records. Attorney information for Slatter was not available.
Slatter, a 15-year veteran of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, immediately resigned from his position as a deputy following his arrest, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
In January, authorities were contacted by a parent who was concerned their 17-year-old son was “being sexually abused and exploited” by several men he’d met through social media, beginning when he was “14 or 15 years old,” according to a news release from the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office.
Investigators learned Slatter “solicited a sexual encounter” with the child while he was under the age of 17, according to the constable’s office.
Court records show Slatter began messaging the boy when he was 15, and the two met at a hotel shortly after for sex acts, KTRK reported.
They met two more times for sex acts at the boy’s home, the outlet reported, citing court records.
Pct. 3 Capt. Adam Acosta told KTRK authorities had evidence of “conversations that lead us to believe that Mr. Slatter was aware” the teen was younger than 18.
“Upholding the trust and safety of our community is not just a responsibility, it is a duty we take seriously,” Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said, per the release. “The actions of one individual do not define the dedication and integrity of the men and women who serve honorably in this agency.”
