The Humane Society of North Texas rescued 30 abandoned dogs from a home in Burleson last month. They were “found trapped in filth, forgotten in the cold and abandoned” in makeshift enclosures with no way to escape, according to a Humane Society social media post.

“Some were so desperate they chewed through plywood shelters, searching for a way out,” the Humane Society’s post says. “Others had been caged so long that we had to dig around the gates to open the doors.”

One dog was to tethered to a stake and others lived inside a condemned home filled with trash, urine, and feces, according to the post.

The rescue team found one of the dogs tethered to a stake in the ground, “helpless and alone,” while another group of dogs lived inside a condemned home filled with trash, urine, and feces, the Humane Society said.

A newborn puppy was also among the dogs rescued, the Humane Society of North Texas said in a news release.

The puppy named Frost was found cold and motionless, “barely clinging to life.”

Frost is now in the care of a behavior trainer at the Humane Society of North Texas.

“For the first time in his young life, he is experiencing love, warmth, and security,” the release states.

The dogs were crammed into makeshift enclosures and exposed to freezing temperatures with minimal resources, according to the Humane Society.

Donations to the Humane Society to provide medical care, food, and rehabilitation for these survivors are being accepted.

The Humane Society is also seeking volunteers who are willing to sit with the dogs and show them people can be trusted.
