A Texas woman was arrested after officials said she tied up a 7-year-old and locked her in a dog cage.

The 55-year-old Houston woman is charged with unlawful restraint and injury to a child according to court records.

McClatchy News is not naming the woman to protect the identity of the child.

The woman is the sole caretaker of a 7-year-old child, according to court records.

In an attempt to “discipline” the girl for bad behavior at school, the woman zip-tied her and taped her mouth shut, according to court records. Then, she locked the girl in a dog cage and put it next to a Christmas tree, officials said.

The woman also kicked the girl while she was in the cage, the court document said.

The girl was kept in the cage for hours without food or water and had to urinate on herself, officials said.

The woman was given a $10,000 bond.
