Months after a person and a child were reported missing in June, human remains were uncovered in Texas, deputies said.

Now, a man is charged with murder in connection to the remains found on a property in Buffalo, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office said in a Nov. 13 news release.

Michael Dean Davis, Jr. was arrested in Laredo and is held on a $3 million bond, officials said.

The person and child were reported missing June 19, but family members had not seen or heard from them since July 2022, deputies said. The sheriff’s office did not identify the two people missing.

The remains found were sent to be examined and positively identified, deputies said.

Buffalo is about a 130-mile drive northwest from Houston.
