Even though the 2024 World Series will not be in Texas this year as it was the last two baseball seasons, the state still features some of the best cities to catch a game.

The Best Baseball Cities rankings released by WalletHub on Tuesday, Oct. 22, listed Arlington and Houston among the 20 best cities where fans can enjoy “a home run experience” at a college or pro game for a reasonable price.

WalletHub compared over 330 U.S. cities with at least one college or professional baseball team across 31 key metrics, ranging from the performance of its teams to average ticket prices and fan engagement.

What Texas cities were considered best for baseball fans

In the ranking, Arlington, home of the 2023 World Series champion Texas Rangers, ranked No. 11 on the list overall. Houston, where the Houston Astros play, was positioned at No. 16 by WalletHub.

Arlington was the ninth-best MLB city and 120th-best Minor League Baseball city, with Houston coming in at No. 20 for MLB and 120 for MiLB, respectively, according to WalletHub. Houston also ranked No. 1 for best MLB performance but No. 22 for most expensive ticket on average.

Arlington ranked fifth for the most accessible MLB stadium behind the St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland A’s, Cincinnati Reds, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

How Texas cities fared in baseball fan engagement

WalletHub ranked Arlington as having the third-most engaged fan base in MLB. Only the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals were higher. Houston, on the other hand, ranked No. 22 in the least engaged category, below cities such as New York, home to the Yankees and Mets, and Denver, where the Colorado Rockies play.
