A husband and wife are accused of conspiring to kidnap and kill a man with whom she was previously having an extramarital affair, Texas authorities say.

The couple, Hana Alolaimi and Omar Bishtawi, lured the man to a Chick-fil-A in Houston, where he was picking up a food delivery order, police said. The victim works as a DoorDash driver, according to KHOU and KTRK.

Outside the fast-food restaurant Saturday, Oct. 19, Alolaimi parked her vehicle next to her former lover’s. She gestured for him to get into her car, and when he did, she began driving off, police said.

Bishtawi then appeared from underneath a curtain in the backseat, and he put the other man in a chokehold and pressed a gun to his head, according to court documents.

Police said as the victim tried getting away, Bishtawi shot him twice in the leg.

The victim escaped, and the couple surrendered to police, officers said in a news briefing streamed by KHOU.

Alolaimi and Bishtawi were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping, court records show.

They both remained in the Harris County jail as of Oct. 22.
