Wounded man takes gun from accused home invader and shoots him dead, Texas cops say
A Texas man wounded during a home invasion took the alleged intruder’s gun and shot him to death with it, according to Houston police.
Officers responded to a call about a break-in at an apartment on the city’s southwest side at about 4:15 p.m. June 12, the Houston Police Department said in a news release.
According to police, an armed man forced his way into the home.
Another man, an accomplice, waited outside as a lookout, investigators told KTRK. The tenant’s girlfriend was also inside the apartment during the break-in.
After entering the apartment, the armed man encountered the tenant, a 26-year-old man, and shot him in the leg, police said.
There was a struggle and, despite being injured, the tenant disarmed the other man and opened fire, killing him, according to police.
Both men were taken to a hospital, where the alleged intruder died, police said. The tenant’s wound was considered non-life-threatening.
Investigators are working to determine the suspect’s identity, police said.
