Texas woman found safe 400 miles away after possible kidnapping, DeSoto police say

A North Texas woman who police suspected was kidnapped Thursday after she bought a meal for a man at Taco Casa in Lancaster was found about 400 miles away early Friday morning, according to DeSoto police.

Lacey Lyn Overby was found safe in Laredo about 12:45 a.m. Friday, police said.

DeSoto police said the incident is still under investigation and further details regarding the case will be shared at a later time. No arrests or charges have been announced.

“The DeSoto Police Department is grateful to know that Lacey is safe and that she will be reunited with her family soon,” police said in a news release posted on social media. “We would like to thank the local law-enforcement in Laredo Texas who assisted in locating Lacey.”

Authorities issued a CLEAR Alert, a missing persons alert for adults, on Thursday and were investigating the disappearance of the 37-year-old woman as a possible abduction. At that point, Overby had last been seen around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of East Parkerville Road in DeSoto., police said in a social media post.

Overby had also been seen at a Taco Casa restaurant in Lancaster, purchasing a meal for a man who appeared to be experiencing homelessness, according to police. The man was considered a suspect.

Overby was last seen in her vehicle, a 2015 Silver Chevy Malibu.

Anyone with information about the incident or about her vehicle was asked to call 911.
