Father suspected of killing mom of 10-year-old, abducting son in North Texas Amber Alert
Police are still looking for a 10-year-old Wilmer boy abducted from his home Tuesday morning and now say that his father is suspected of killing his mother while kidnapping their son.
Texas authorities issued an Amber Alert and are looking for 10-year-old Ian Aguilar, who was last seen around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 20 block of Oakdale Street in Wilmer.
Wilmer is in Dallas County and is about 45 miles east of Fort Worth.
Officials said the suspect, 38-year-old Juan Aguilar-Cano, is Ian’s father.
Aguilar-Cano is suspected of killing the boy’s mother, Zuleika Lopez, at her home Tuesday and then taking their son, law enforcement authorities told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is investigating Lopez’s homicide, according to Wilmer police.
Ian and the kidnapping suspect have not been found, officials said around noon Wednesday in an updated alert. Wilmer police said in a news release that the vehicle the father was believed to be driving was found unoccupied in the Houston area.
Ian, who is Hispanic, is about 4 feet tall and has black hair and brown eyes.
The suspect, Aguilar-Cano, is described as a white man who is 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
The suspect vehicle that was found is a tan 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe with the Texas license plate KVZ-1194.
Law enforcement officials believe Ian to be in grave or immediate danger.
