A stop at a gas station landed a lottery player in Texas a huge prize on a scratch-off ticket.
The Nederland resident bought a Loteria Supreme game ticket for $100 and hit the ticket’s top prize of $7.5 million, according to a news release from the Texas Lottery.
The game has four winning tickets for that amount, and this is the first to be redeemed. In total, the game offers more than $709.9 million in prizes.
“Overall odds of winning any prize in the game are one in 3.23, including break-even prizes,” the release said.
There are more than 8.8 million tickets for the scratch-off game, with the next highest prize at $100,000, according to the Texas Lottery.
The winner of the $7.5 million prize has chosen to remain anonymous, the release said.
Nederland is about 95 miles northeast of Houston.
