A 6-foot alligator was discovered lying in a drainage ditch in Texas, police said.

Officials from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and animal control officers were sent to capture the reptile in League City, according to an April 18 Facebook post from the League City Police Department.

The alligator can be seen blending in with muddy water in the drainage area in a photo posted by police.

After the creature was wrangled, it still managed to give one officer a scare, a video posted by police shows.

While the officer was putting restraints on the alligator’s forelegs, the animal reared its head back, spooking the officer, who can be heard saying, “scared the crap out of me.”

The alligator was relocated, police said.

League City is about 25 miles southeast of Houston.
