A powerful storm system sweeping across the central U.S. unleashed a tornado in Oklahoma before doing the same in Texas.

That tornado touched down around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 13, according to the National Weather Service, and tore through the small Oklahoma town of Wayne.

Several homes were damaged or destroyed, power lines and trees were tossed into streets, and the town was left without power, according to McClain County Emergency Management.

Emergency crews and Red Cross workers have set up shelter at a local church where residents can get water and supplies.

No deaths or injuries were reported.

Wayne, which has a population of around 700, is roughly 43 miles south of downtown Oklahoma City.
