Rollover crash kills driver who swerved to avoid mattress on highway, Texas cops say
A driver died in a rollover crash after swerving to avoid hitting a mattress, authorities in Texas said.
The driver was speeding north along Interstate 37 near Hardy Road in Bexar County around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, KSAT reported, citing authorities.
Attempting to avoid hitting a mattress on the road, the driver swerved, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Officials said the vehicle rolled over, partially ejecting the driver.
The vehicle crashed into the nearby trees and brush, Kens 5 reported.
The driver suffered major trauma and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The crash happened about 25 miles south of San Antonio.
