Texas set to take back the largest Buc-ee’s in the country. Here’s where and when
The home of clean bathrooms, fresh food and a friendly beaver announced Wednesday it plans to replace its Buc-ee’s in Luling with the largest one in the country.
The new Buc-ee’s, on Interstate 10 about 60 miles east of San Antonio, will be built next to the existing one in order for a smooth transition, the company announced in a press release. The new store will surpass the one in Knoxville, Tennessee, by 1,000 square feet. Construction will start in the fall. The stop is planned to take up more than 75,000 square feet and provide 120 gas pumps. Built in 2003, the Buc-ee’s in Luling was the brand’s first family travel center, according to the release.
The new Buc-ee’s is committed to add at least 200 jobs, said Jeff Nadalo, general counsel for Buc-ee’s.
“It’s coinciding with our 40th year in business that we are making this announcement.“ Nadalo said. “As the store plan gets developed and we understand the full dynamic, that number could increase.”
Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s owns 35 stores in Texas, two in Alabama, two in Florida, two in Georgia, one in Kentucky and South Carolina.
